Be Bold! Be Brave!

The dictionary defines the word bravery as the courage to act despite fear, danger, and the unknown.

Real game changers, those extraordinary, unstoppable innovators know the power of being brave and bold. They have a purpose that’s bigger than themselves. They live an inspired life. The truth is we all feel fear. The difference between a hero and a coward is that they both feel fear but the hero moves forward anyway.

We all know the classic heroes. The 9/11 heroes who went into those buildings to save lives knowing they may never come out and many did not come out. Or our military who risk and sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

Yet bravery is so much more.

What about the bravery it takes to end a relationship thats not nourishing or healthy for both people?
That takes courage.

How about the bravery it takes to stand up to a bully and do what is right even though you’re afraid?

How about the bravery of being able to continue to live an inspired life after losing a loved one?

What about the bravery to forgive someone? Holding on to resentment and bitterness is like drinking poison thinking it will kill your enemy. It takes bravery to stand up and say I am letting that go. I forgive you.

Sometimes we need to be brave enough to forgive ourselves. We all make mistakes. Having the bravery to give yourself a break, that takes courage.

How about bravery to stand up for yourself in any situation? When someone has done you wrong, instead of being a victim be the victor and stand up for yourself.

How about the bravery it takes to be who you really are, to believe in yourself, to be authentic. Despite anything else, what someone says, what people believe about what you should do, having the bravery to be true to who you are, that’s real courage. That takes bravery and boldness.

There’s so many opportunities to be brave in this world. Remember that courage isn’t always the lions roar. Sometimes its that little voice at the end of the day that says I will get up and try again tomorrow.

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself in order to become more bold and brave in your life:

STEP 1: What is something in my life where I need to be brave and bold right now?

What is that something for you? Maybe it’s just being honest with yourself about something, or being honest with someone else. Or maybe taking that step forward towards your goals and dreams despite the stories out there. Maybe it’s standing up for yourself and creating the life that you really want.

STEP 2: Who would I need to be right now so that I could be brave and bold?

Are you a radiant, strong goddess? Are you a fearless pillar of strength? Who looks to you as a role model in their life, how would you want to model a life for them? What about your future self looking back on you right now? Who do you need to be to have the courage and strength to become the future self that you so deserve and desire?

STEP 3: What is the one action you can take right now that is brave, bold and badass?

Think about it. Whats the one thing you can do right now? For me it was decades ago when I was in a physically abusive relationship, so much so that I was thrown through a window and have scars on my arm, they are my bravery scars. After that I took my infant son and I said no more! I walked out the door. That was my brave and bold moment that truly changed my life and allowed me to inspire other people in the same situation to do just that. As Tony Robbins would say “All you ever need is within you now.” You can say that over and over again as you take that brave, bold step into your future.
