Have you tried to start a meditation practice before?

You got excited, read a few articles, saw that Oprah meditates, and determined that “this is the year I meditate”

But...

Life got in the way. It was hard to get out of the house in time, let alone sit for 15 minutes by yourself and meditate.

Also, what are you supposed to do while you meditate? Sit there? Think of happy little clouds and peaceful lakes?

Our lives are busy and hectic. Sure meditation is good and all these successful people do it, but they have assistants so they have time that we don’t... right?

It’s good in theory, but it just doesn’t work for those of us with hectic, busy lives.

If you have ever felt that way.

I’ll show you how to establish a meditation routine that works in your busy life so you can get to “ohm” status in no time.

Why it’s hard to find time to meditate

We don’t have 15 minutes to spare for meditation but we just scrolled Instagram for half an hour...

We don’t have 15 minutes to spare for meditation but we stayed up until midnight catching up on the latest Netflix show...

We don’t have 15 minutes to spare for meditation but we just refreshed our email 10 times at work...

While none of these are bad things to do, the common excuse “I don’t have time to...” holds a lot of people back from achieving the things they want to do.

But “not having time” is just an excuse for the deeper reasons that people don’t meditate.

You see meditation can be a difficult habit to start. We often don’t know what to do during meditation so we avoid doing it. We hear “empty your mind” or “just focus on your breath” but without a teacher, that is hard to do.

We also set high expectations for our meditation practice right away. We think that “3 min is nothing, I can focus for 20 min” then quickly get frustrated and bored.

We also forget that meditation is a lifelong habit, not a quick fix.

And while we can see some improvements immediately, it’s difficult to see the long term growth the meditation gives us.

So we try it once or twice and say “meditation isn’t working for me”. That would be like working at a new job for 1 hour then saying “well I don’t know what I am doing I need to quit this job”

Establishing a new habit is not an easy task, it takes clarity, discipline and a break in your old habits to make room for a new one

There are however ways you can improve your chances of sticking to a new meditation habit.

A simple method that keeps you consistent with your daily meditation habit.

It’s easy to overcomplicate things.

I think it’s a superpower we all have in our modern, information rich world. With so much access to information at our fingertips, and a million opinions on the “best” way to achieve something. We get overwhelmed with what method to choose, and end up not trying anything at all.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

There is a simple way to build a new meditation habit that takes the guesswork out of it.

Sidekick your old habit with your new habit.

We have thousands of already established habits in our life right now.

  • When our phone dings, we look at it.
  • When the light turns red we stop.
  • When our alarm goes off we hit snooze.

To start a new habit, pick an established habit and use it as a trigger to start your new habit.

  • When our phone dings, we take 3 calming breaths, then look at our message.
  • When the light turns red, we tell ourselves our daily mantra “I am calm, I am focused”
  • When our alarm goes off we get up, drink a glass of water, and sit in our favorite chair to meditate.

This makes starting a new habit so easy.

We use what is already working in our lives to jump-start something new.

That means anyone who is serious about adding a meditation habit into their lives, no matter how busy, can use their existing habits to jump-start their meditation practice.

No one gets more than 24 hours in a single day. Not even Beyonce.

But we do get to choose how we spend those 24 hours.

Meditation And The Oprah Effect

“That outside world is constantly trying to convince you you’re not enough. But you don’t have to take the bait. Meditation, in whatever form you choose, helps you resist. What I know for sure, and have had to learn through much trial and error: The voice that truly matters is the silent voice of awareness, consciousness, aliveness,”
—Oprah Winfrey

So many of us hear that voice in our head saying “I need to ______ to be happy/confident/ joyful/ peaceful”

When I think of Oprah Winfrey I think of a calm, collected, successful, confident woman.

She is so many of the things we are striving to be.

Meditation unlocks that side of us. I call it the Oprah effect.

Meditation connects us to our center, the core of who we are. It awakens a part of us that allows us to walk into a room with a calm, confident presence and show up as our best selves.

Imagine for a moment… not feeling overwhelmed and increasingly stressed as your day goes on. Instead, you are calm and focused. You know the right answer because you are deeply connected to yourself and you can confidently make decisions. You can connect again to your family and loved ones because your head isn’t full of tomorrow’s to-do lists or worries about the future.

The world is full of pressure and is constantly trying to tell you that you’re not enough, Meditation helps you resist those negative thoughts.

Create a strong center within yourself, a place for you to go when you need peace and refuge from the world.

In my years of teaching, I have noticed that high achievers, like me, struggle to get started with meditation.

We have this high expectation to “get it right” the first time. And if we forget to do even one day of meditation or if we don’t see the results as quickly as we thought, we give up on it and don’t look back.

That’s why I created:

Take The Stress Out Of starting a Meditation Habit

As you know, it takes time to establish a new habit.

For most of us, it takes a solid 3 weeks of practicing something to establish it as a part of our lives.

This is especially true if you are busy and don’t yet know what to “do” while you are meditating.

Would you like to fully establish your new meditation habit over the next 21 days?

Many people struggle with meditation because they try to “sit there” for 20 minutes. While that seems good in theory, their mind is not yet trained to focus for that length and they end up bored and uncomfortable.

And when they get bored the quit their practice.

What you need to succeed with a new meditation practice is: consistency and guidance.

I’ve made it easy for you to succeed with your meditation habit by creating 21 days of guided meditations that were designed to help you build focus during your meditation.

Each audio gives you a singular topic to focus on, like: Letting Go, Happiness, Purpose, Abundance, and more…

Don’t sit there bored and try to force yourself into doing something that you are not ready for.

That would be like going on a 26 mile run without training for it.

Train your mind to meditate correctly.
